Beware of Fake Email
Purportedly from NACS
On Sunday night [March 9, 2008] we [ NACS ] were made aware of an email "phishing scam" whereby fraudsters attempt to gain your credentials by asking you to send your information in an email that they say comes from "The Network and Academic Computing ServicesR".
This is a fake, please do not respond! We have taken steps to attempt to block any replies, but it is best if the response is not sent at all in case they respond by changing mail servers.
If you received this email and sent your credentials as asked, before 11:20 pm Sunday night, you must change your password here, ASAP:
by clicking on the link for "Change my existing password".
No UCI-affiliated organization will ever ask you to send your credentials in an email as a "reply-to". Also, any official email from NACS will have a person's name attached, not a generic designation like "Customer Service".
The message in its entirety is below for your information, but without the web-based formatting. In the original, they even grabbed our logo.
