Setup Multi-Factor Authentication

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds multiple layers of protection when signing on to verify it is really you using the application. MFA refers to authentication based on two or more factors. Two-Factor authentication uses only two factors. Types of factors include but are not limited to:

  1. Something You Know (password, PIN)
  2. Something You Have (hardware or software token, USB stick, magnetic strip card)
  3. Something You Are (fingerprint, facial recognition, iris scan)
  4. Somewhere You Are (GPS location)

UCI uses DUO Security for multi-factor authentication. For more information using multi-factor authentication on your UCI accounts, please visit https://duo.oit.uci.edu/.

It is also recommended to enable multi-factor authentication on all of your personal accounts. For more information on how to set that up on various services, please visit https://2fa.directory/us/ .
