Multi-Factor Authentication

Multi-Factor Authentications(MFA) adds another layer of protection when signing on to an application. The user is able to access resources through the application once the authentication process has been completed. MFA refers to authentication based on two or more factors. Two-Factor authentication uses only two factors. Types of factors include but are not limited to:

Something You Have

  • Hardware and software tokens
  • USB Stick
  • Magnetic Strip Cards

Something You Know

  • Passwords
  • Pins

Something You Are

  • Fingerprints
  • Facial Recognition
  • Iris Scans

Somewhere You Are

  • GPS location
